A prayer for love. Prepare me for the love I am asking for. Soften what has gone hard in me, and guard what has stayed tender. Bring someone whose kindness is a habit and not a performance, and let me recognise them without fear talking me out of it. Until then, let me live so fully that love arrives as a guest and not a rescue.

A prayer for work. You know the work I am made for better than I do. Put my effort where it counts, put my name in the right rooms, and steady my voice when the moment comes. Let me be excellent without being anxious. I ask for the role that fits the person I am becoming, and patience for the road between here and there.

A prayer for clarity. Quiet the noise. I have asked everyone else and now I am asking you: show me the next right step, just the next one. Give me honesty about what I already know and have been avoiding. When the answer comes, let me not pretend I did not hear it.

A prayer for peace. I put down what I have been carrying alone. The worry that solves nothing, the checking, the rehearsing of disasters that never come. Tonight I trade it for sleep and trust. What I can do tomorrow, I will do tomorrow. What I cannot do at all, I leave with you, where it apparently prefers to be handled.

A prayer for a protected hope. Keep my hope stubborn. People will call this dream unrealistic, and some days I will agree with them. On those days especially, keep a small light on in me. Let doubt visit without moving in.

A prayer of plain thanks. Before I ask for one more thing: thank you. For the prayers already answered that I now call ordinary life. For the near misses I never saw. For the people who stayed. Teach me to count these daily, because a person who counts them walks differently, and I would like to walk that way.

How to actually use them
